Outreach Coordinator

The City of New Braunfels is accepting applications for the position of Outreach Coordinator for the New Braunfels Public Library/Westside Community Center. This position is open until filled. GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general direction, performs a variety of management functions in support of the City of New Braunfels Library and Parks and Recreation operations; establishes and maintains professional relationships with other community organizations, evaluates, coordinates, plans and/or implements needed outreach, cultural, literacy and wellbeing programming at the Westside Community Center, coordinates with other City staff to ensure that the building and the site are in good working order, assists with developing policies and procedures to ensure the effective and safe operations of the center, and performs other specialized duties relative to area of assignment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

o Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality city programs and services to the community.
o Develops, nurtures, and maintains effective partnerships with various stakeholders, including but not limited to schools, teachers, non-profit service organizations, community leaders and managers, trainers and other resource persons;
o Addresses and facilitates the timely resolution of customer concerns and complaints;
o Develops and monitors center's annual budget; tracks expenses and revenues generated by the facility; tracks daily weekly, monthly, and yearly attendance figures; and oversees staffing for the facility;
o Schedules the maintenance and use of the facility; reviews and inspects facility, programs and operations for safety hazards and other potential problems.
o Provides training and/or supervises the work activities of assigned library personnel and/or volunteers as required; prepares staff schedules; recruits volunteers as assigned.
o Hires, trains and evaluates Center staff; serves as liaison to Library, Parks and Recreation and other city department staff; meets regularly with assigned staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues;
o Participates in compiling statistical data and/or developing and updating Center policies and procedures as required.
o Participates in maintaining and updating the Center's website, online calendar, and/or E-Resource Center;
o Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Education and
Experience:
o Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or closely related field, and two (2) years management experience in any capacity; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
o Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.

Required Knowledge of:
o Specialized functions relative to area of assignment.
o Customer service standards and protocol.
Required Skill in:
o Coordinating and performing a variety of professional librarian functions.
o Assisting in ensuring the delivery of high quality library services to patrons.
o Providing reference and reader's advisory assistance to patrons.
o Responding to public inquiries and complaints regarding library related matters.
o Participating in developing and maintaining assigned library collections.
o Coordinating and performing specialized functions relative to area of assignment.
o Serving as Librarian in Charge and coordinating library operations as required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
o Work is performed in an office environment; is subject to sitting, standing bending and reaching for extended periods of time; and must be able to safely pull or push loaded book carts and other items weighing up to forty (40) pounds, and to safely lift and carry items weighing up to thirty (30) pounds.
o May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.
Salary and Benefits
Starting minimum salary range is $19.58 - $23.48 an hour based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include Texas Municipal Retirement System; paid vacation and sick leave; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. EOEEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
